15-Year-Old Who Started Oregon Wildfires Ordered To Pay $37 Million In Restitution

To be fair, the teenager who started the Oregon wildfires probably won’t have to pay the full $37 million. But, he will have to make payments for the next decade. And, if he complies and stays out of trouble, after 10 years the restitution payments will stop.

Earlier this year, the 15-year-old from Washington admitted throwing two fireworks in Eagle Creek Canyon. The fires spread quickly and caused evacuations, highway shutdowns and ruined tons of land.

Although, the kid’s lawyer said the $37 million was “absurd” which I kind of agree with. But again, if he does well he won’t have to pay it all. And he caused massive devastation via the Oregon wildfires to beloved land and the people who lived there.
