Ashley McBryde made a quick climb to fame in the past couple of years. When she was feeling a bit like a fish out of water, Miranda Lambert was a great mentor.

McBryde admits that, while she’s still not 100 percent used to her celebrity status, Lambert has helped ease the transition.

“I met Miranda Lambert first in Chicago, at LakeShake,” McBryde told PopCulture. “She came side stage and watched our show, and tweeted about it. She said, ‘You should come have a drink with me later.’ That turned into us writing together and becoming really fast friends.”

McBryde took the opportunity to get some tips on how to handle fame. “Being at [Lambert’s] house, and talking to her, I could ask her anything, and she had no trouble giving me advice. Things about safety, and what things to look for on social media, and things to stay away from.”

“I was like, ‘I don’t know how to meet-and-greets. What do I do about that?'” she added. “And she was like, ‘You just accept that that’s the thing you’re going to have to do now.’ She’s really been a guiding light for me.'”
