Bay Area Cost-Of-Living Officially Hits “Stupid”

By kncitom on June 26, 2018

Just when you thought the cost of living in the Bay area couldn’t get any more ridiculous… it does!

A new survey by the US Dept of Housing and Urban development finds that living in or around San Fran is so expensive, $117,400 a year for a family of four qualifies as “low income” in SF, San Mateo and Marin counties.

In fact, in Marin, a 2017 Honda Accord  probably qualifies as a hoopdie.

In all seriousness, those figures are the highest in the country and offer the clearest explanation yet as to why so many residents are leaving the Bay area that it  is now also the #1 city for “outward migration”

The top three locations they’re relocating to?

-Seattle

-Portland

-Sacramento

Which is good if you’re a home or land owner, but tough if you’re a young person who wants to buy a home. Hopefully though, our cost-of-living never reaches Bay Area levels and a 2017 Honda Accord remains just a smart, practical sedan that gets good gas mileage.
