On July 1, a little piece of my childhood will die thanks to Best Buy. The retailer announced that it will pull CDs from shelves this summer.

Even though CD sales were down 18.5% in 2017, it’s still a little sad. I mean, I haven’t bought a CD in…years? But I like having the option. I used to just go there and pick out random ones hoping I would like them.

Now many people choose to pay for a streaming service and go from there. Don’t get me wrong, all of this makes sense. But it’s sad to see something that meant so much to me and many other people go.

Especially from Best Buy. Back in the day, when you wanted a new album, that was place to go. Or a good local shop.

According to Billboard, Target is following somewhat following suit. They have begun to sell CDs based on a consignment model.

Will you miss seeing physical CDs sold at Best Buy and other locations?
