Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Closes In Midtown, Replaced By Gyro Shop

After four years in business on J Street,  Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has called in quits. The owner, Jared Katzenbarger, told the Sacramento Business Journal that being a franchise in midtown hurt profits.

“Even though we are locally owned and operated, people would call us ‘corporate food,’” he said. So, he is hoping his new concept will do better in the space.

Greek Restaurant to Replace Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

The new eatery will feature gyros and flatbread sandwiches made with meats cooked on vertical grills. Additionally, the name will be Jyros and it is slated to open in February.
