Dierks Does Some Throwback Country And It’s Awesome

Dierks Bentley’s new album, The Mountain, is coming out Friday.

Which is fine but, what we wanna know is: when is Douglas Doug Douglason’s album coming out?

DDD is another alter-ego of Dierks’, a shaggy-haired, sunglasses-wearing frontman of a 1990s country cover band called the “Hot Country Knights”.  And you may seem ’em when Dierks’ tour rolls through Wheatland on Oct 6th: at his tour opener this past weekend, the “Hot Country Knights” were the first act to peform!

But there is a larger message with this latest tongue-in-cheek side hustle for Dierks. Really, he’s doing it to promote a very cool component to his inaugural “Seven Peaks Festival” in Buena Vista, Colorado. The three day event, which Dierks himself is overseeing (and performing at) happens Labor Day weekend and in addition to featuring current country acts like Brothers Osborne and Miranda Lambert, there will be showcase performances from classic 90s acts, including Sawyer Brown, Terri Clark and Clint Black. How great does that sound??

“I couldn’t imagine getting to help plan my own festival and not having my favorite country music from the Nineties represented in a big way,” Bentley told Rolling Stone. “These guys are the constant soundtrack for me and the band backstage on the road, and I’m beyond excited they agreed to kick this thing off on Friday night with us.”
