Even though it’s been out of the news for awhile now, firefighters have been working diligently to get the Mendocino Complex Fire to be contained. Now remember, this doesn’t mean it’s fully been put out.

The fire began July 27, 2018 as two separate fires that merged. The combined Ranch and River Fires burned a total of 459,123 acres, with 22 miles of fire lines.

No cause has been determined.

Forest Service crews are now conducting repair work, including work to prevent erosion. That work must be completed before the Mendocino National Forest can be reopened to the public.
