John Rich Starts Firestorm On Twitter Over Colin Kaepernick

By kncitom on September 4, 2018

John Rich of Big and Rich started a firestorm on Twitter last night. Rich tweeted a photo of a pair of ripped up Nike socks…his soundman, a marine veteran, had just cut the logo off his socks in response to the news yesterday that Nike is starting an ad campaign in support of and featuring Colin Kaepernick.

In the Tweet, Rich called for a boycott of Nike products and specifically mentioned Kaepernick’s wearing of a pair of “pig socks” …socks with cartoons of pigs in police uniform…saying, basically, he can’t support anyone who doesn’t support law enforcement.

Rich was immediately hit with thousands of tweets both very much for and very much against, and, never one to shy away from controversy, Rich replied to many of those who took him to task, sometimes emotionally

and sometimes a little more level-headed.

Nike is making Kaepernick the face of it’s “Just Do It” 30th anniversary campaign, even though Kaepernick hasn’t played a down since 2016.
