KFC Is Testing Out New “Vegetarian Fried Chicken” Option

Alright vegetarians…would you try vegetarian fried chicken from KFC. Or, really at any fast food restaurant? The first thing that comes to mind for me is tofu. But, the restaurant chain hasn’t figured out exactly what the option will consist of.
Of course, it will feature the famous 11 herbs and spices. But, to truly be vegetarian, wouldn’t they have to use different fryers? And since there won’t be skin on the chicken, what will they use to get a similar texture? Now I need to know all of these things, KFC!
“Development of the recipe is still in its very early stages. So, the options we’re exploring in our kitchen are still top secret,” a spokesman said. “Once we’ve perfected the recipe, we aim to test with customers this year, and if all goes well, we hope to launch a new vegetarian option in 2019.”
