If you’re planning to go downtown this weekend, you might want to reconsider. There are a ton of events and closures in Sacramento. Meaning, traffic. If you have to, here’s what’s going on and where to avoid.

Sac State is having their graduation at Golden 1 Friday and Saturday morning, afternoon, and evenings (both days). The Amgen Tour of California is going on, and they’re coming through downtown on Saturday. That’ll tie up Tower Bridge pretty much all day. There’ll be around the Community Center Theater for the performance of “An American in Paris” on Friday and Saturday. Memorial Auditorium will be busy Saturday afternoon for another graduation ceremony. And finally, the Convention Center is hosting a volleyball tournament on Saturday.

The most frustrating part about navigating downtown will be from the Amgen Tour with all the closures that will be in place. It’s a lot, but if you’re going to try to go through the city north or south, you’ll probably meet a blockage. Take I5, or 20th St and up. See a map of the closures here. Sac State gave out very specific driving and parking information for parking around Golden 1 Center. The city has also suggested reserving a parking spot if you can. Information on that here. See some more info on all the events here.
