The Marvel Comics legend, Stan Lee, has sadly passed away at the age of 95.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee reportedly died early Monday morning, on November 12. The comics creator passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Lee was a writer, editor and publisher for Marvel Comics, and helped create many classic super heroes and heroines. He began his career in the business in 1939, and went on to create and co-create legendary characters such as Black Panther, Spider-Man, X-Men, The Mighty Thor, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, Ant-Man and many others.

Lee worked alongside Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and many others at Marvel. Together, they helped explode it into the top publisher of comic books and the eventual multimedia giant of today.

Stan Lee commented on his career to the Chicago Tribune in April 2014. “I used to think what I did was not very important,” he said. “People are building bridges and engaging in medical research, and here I was doing stories about fictional people who do extraordinary, crazy things and wear costumes. But, I suppose I have come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed.”

Rest In Peace, Stan.
