MGM Suing Route 91 Harvest Festival Victims. Wait, What?

By kncitom on July 17, 2018

This is just bizarre: MGM resorts is suing over 1000 victims of last fall’s mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, saying they’re doing it for the good of the victims.

The company owns the Mandalay Bay hotel, where the shooter stationed himself, as well as the grounds where the festival was held.

They have filed the lawsuit in federal court, which is in response to a lawsuit filed against them in Nevada state court, claiming that the resort had taken all necessary and required precautions against terrorist or terrorist-style acts and that they’re not liable for the incident, which killed 58 and injured over 800 more.

MGM claims their lawsuit is the only way for victims to avoid years of drawn-out litigation.

A lawyer for the victims called the lawsuit outrageous and says they’re only doing it to find a judge that might be more apt to side with them. It’s all very confusing but if you want to try to figure it out and dig a little deeper, click here
