Dennis Alexander has been placed on administrative leave after firing a gun in a classroom. The Seaside High School teacher is also a reserve officer and was reportedly teaching gun safety.

According to Fox News, he pointed the firearm at the ceiling and accidentally shot it.

An investigation “determined that there was no immediate threat to students or staff.”

But, at least on student seems to have suffered injuries. A 17-year-old was injured after bullet fragments ricocheted off the ceiling.

Additionally, a parent said the school didn’t mention anything about the incident to them. They had to call and report it to the police.

“I’m still really upset no one called a nurse or a paramedic to come check on the students,” the parent said. “They just sat there until the bell rang,” she told St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Not only has Dennis Alexander been put on leave at Seaside High School, but also at the police department.
