Have you ever lost your dog, even for just a few minutes? If you, you know that sinking feeling that immediately sets in. That’s why you should microchip your pet. Because you never know what could happen and a microchip could be the thing that gets your pup home.

Case in point, Macho was recently brought into the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento. They scanned for a microchip and found the owner information. Turns out, the lost dog had been missing for over a year and a half.

Once Macho’s mom got the good news, she brought her family to the shelter.  But, she kept the reason why a surprise. And of course, the reunion was emotional. Check out the video below.

Microchipping your pet could be the thing that brings them back to you. I’ve found MULTIPLE strays in my neighborhood, and none have been chipped. All but two were brought into a shelter, which is sad.

Also, Fourth of July is the worst time of they year for shelters. Dogs often get scared of fireworks and take off from their home. If they aren’t microchipped, finding their home is a heck of a lot harder.

Of course, collars are SUPER helpful. But, they can come off.
