Sacramento, One of the Highest Flood-Prone Cities in America, Gets Billions in Federal Funding

You would think that due to the drought we wouldn’t really be considered a city that has to worry about flooding, however that’s simply just not the case. Sacramento happens to be the second most flood-prone major city in America. Sacramento’s efforts to fight flooding got a major boost Thursday. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Rep. Doris Matsui’s office announced that the region has been allocated nearly $1.8 billion to strengthen levees and raise Folsom Dam. Contruction work will likely begin next year and could actually take a total of 5 to 7 years to complete these projects. Click here for the full story.
