Sacramento was the state’s second highest rent increase last year amongst the state’s major cities. Last year, Sacramento’s rent had jumped a whopping 10 percent, however the news isn’t all that bad. If you look at August of last year to August of this year, rent only increased about 2.5 percent. Where the average rent price in Sacramento is $1200 for a two-bedroom unit, San Francisco averages about $3100 per two-bedroom unit. Sacramento ranks 9th in the U.S. with highest rent growth between 2013-2018, with a 7.4 percent increase average per year in rent. Cities that beat Sacramento were Arlington and Reno. Reno of course increasing in rent due to the Tesla factory that opened up there.
