As if I wasn’t already terrified of flying… On Tuesday a flight from SFO to Honolulu lost parts of its engine midair. Passengers caught the metal covering flying off of the engine on video, too.

According to CBS, the engine cover came off about 36 minutes outside of the Honolulu airport. Everyone on board was okay, but probably at least a little rattled.

United said the “pilots called for an emergency landing because of a loss of the engine cowling. Our pilots followed all necessary protocols to safely land the aircraft. The aircraft taxied to the gate and passengers deplaned normally.”

At least the plane made it mostly to Hawaii before the problems happened. Flying home would be pretty scary though.
