Taylor Swift Pays Tribute To Aretha Franklin In Franklin’s Hometown

Taylor Swift brought the crowd to standstill last night in Detroit when she paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin at Ford Stadium. Franklin, a music icon and longtime Detroit resident, recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. Swift honored the singer by asking the crowd for a minute of silence.

“Last week we lost an irreplaceable force”, she told the audience. “Aretha Franklin did so much for music, she did so much for women’s rights, she did so much for civil rights. She was one of those people where no matter what you said, no matter what glowing positive thing you said about her, it would be an understatement. Words could never, ever describe how many things she did in her lifetime that made our world a better place. And this is her home.”

At that point, Swift asked for the house lights to be dimmed. Check it out below…it’s a classy moment from Taylor.
