There’s dumb criminals, and there’s dumb criminals. These teens have a lot to learn if they plan to further their career of crime. Their best course of action would be to just quit now.

So, this guy wanted to sell his iPhone. He probably got one of the new ones, and wanted to unload his old one to help pay for it. If you check eBay or Craigslist, there are a ton of them around. ANyway, he made a post on Craigslist, and these two teens responded to his post. Typical sort of sale post easy cash exchange, right?

At the meeting point, the two teens were there. While discussing the phone, one of the teens pointed a gun to the man’s head. He demanded the phone be left with them, and that the guy just drive away. The teens probably were celebrating the new phone as the man left, using his NEW PHONE to call police. He told the police what had happened, recalling one of the boys’ names. Since, you know, you have to email sellers through Craigslist. Well, police recognised the teen’s name, and dropped by his house. Yep, he was there, along with the other teen, and they were peering out of the window.

Eventually, the two teens came outside, and not only did police get the gun they had, but they recovered the phone too. Hooray for quick police work, and hooray for stupid criminals. We’re glad nobody was hurt, obviously. But come on, these guys HAD to at least consider the fact one of them let their real name through. D’oh! Here’s more info on the original story.
