A woman was rescued by the Coast Guard on Sunday, after falling off a cruise ship and treading water for 10 hours. According to Yahoo News, the 46-year-old, British woman was cruising on the Norwegian Star near Croatia when she fell overboard. As soon as the woman fell off the ship, the crew notified the Coast Guard, and the search and rescue operation was underway.

The woman, whose name was reported to be Kay Longstaff by ABC News, was seen falling overboard at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday by security cameras, and then being rescued by Coast Guard at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. Longstaff, who works as a flight attendant, utilized her emergency training and knowledge to keep herself in a stable situation while floating in the water and waiting for rescue. She cited her skills in yoga for keeping her strength up during the ordeal, and her singing for helping her stay awake throughout the night. “We were lucky,” said lead rescuer Capt. Lovro Oreskovic, after finding Longstaff alive and in a stable condition. “When she saw us, she immediately raised her hands and waved.”

Yahoo News reports that the incident occurred as the ship was sailing on the Adriatic Sea, between Pula on the Croatian mainland and the island of Mali Losinj. The area where Longstaff fell on the Norwegian Star was blocked off, and it is currently unknown how or why she fell overboard.
