During his performance at the Grand Ole Opry on Jan. 9, Blake Shelton slowed things down with a beautiful acoustic version of “Over You”. He performed the song in honor of the late Troy Gentry. The two were close friends.

As many are aware, Gentry tragically passed away in September 2017 in a helicopter crash. Shelton shared that “Over You” moved Gentry when he first heard it, reports Taste of Country.

“Troy didn’t know that the song was about my brother [who died in a car accident in 1990], and at the time he had lost his brother, and it really hit him hard,” Shelton told the crowd. “He wasn’t crying or anything, but he was just beside himself a little bit.”
