Update: The fire was apparently started by a truck towing a trailer that caught fire on the Eastbound side of Highway 50. It grew to about 20 acres before first responders were able to stop forward momentum of the fire. Police are saying they are starting to allow people that were evacuated back into their homes.

Not too many details have been sent out so far, but we do know that Highway 50 is closed in both directions due to a fire.

The highway is closed in between Shingle Springs and Placerville.

Also, homes are being ordered to evacuated off Studebaker Road.

Highway 50 has been re-opened in the westbound direction as of 2pm. Eastbound lanes are still closed.

We will update you as soon as we get more details.
