Citing concern over spikes in Covid-19 cases, Cal-Expo has announced it is officially cancelling it’s 4th of July fireworks show.

According to a news release, organizers said, “due to risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and to save valuable budgetary resources in these financially uncertain times,” they’ve decided to shelve the fireworks.

However, they do have a backup plan, and it sounds pretty cool: they will be adding to its “Food Festival To Go” promotion, which started May 22nd and features “fair food” for take away. July 3rd, Cal Expo says they will offer a special 4th of July menu which includes brisket and apple pie. To find out more about that, click here
