With their return appearance at the 2018 CMA Country Christmas, Dan + Shay have also shared that they may be open to recording a Christmas album one day.

According to The Boot, Dan + Shay delivered another standout performance at the CMA Country Christmas Event. The duo gave a new take on classic Christmas songs. “Everybody’s fallen in love with these Christmas songs over generations and generations, and traditionally, we’ve stuck pretty true to the song,” Dan explained. “This year, we spiced it up a bit with a little bit of a different arrangement on “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

This new interpretation allowed the pair to liven up their performance on stage. Dan emphasized the loose, playful feeling of the performance, saying: “It’s a little more rockin’, and we’re moving around a little more than we’ve traditionally done in the past.”

After several holiday performances over the course of their career, Dan + Shay have joked about the idea or recording a Christmas album or EP. “Yeah, we’re just gonna record all these performances and put them together,” Dan said. On a more serious note, Dan added: “We’ve got a catalog: all the songs we’ve done at the CMA Country Christmas performances. So maybe in the next couple of years, I don’t know.”
