Roseville native Doug Stanley, who with his brother Todd helped create and produce the Discovery Channel’s massively popular Deadliest Catch reality show, was seriously injured in an accident on Tuesday, Sept 9th.

According to Auburn police, Stanley and his ten year old son Jett were riding a motorcycle on Lincoln Way in Auburn when a suspected drunk driver crossed the center line. Stanley suffered a broken pelvis and serious internal injuries and is listed in the hospital in critical condition. Miraculously, his son was thrown from the motorcycle but otherwise not seriously injured. The driver of the car, 35 year old Matthew Griswold was arrested at the scene.

Stanley and his brother grew up in Roseville before dropping out to become independent videographers, which eventually led them to the Discovery Channel where they helped create and produce Deadliest Catch, for which they both won multiple awards, including Emmys although neither have worked on the show in recent years. Stanley lives in Auburn and maintains a video production company there.

His sister Dyane has established a GoFundMe account to help Doug and his family defray costs with what is expected to be a long, challenging and expensive journey back to health. You can find out more about the fund and donate by clicking here.

We wish Doug well. He and his brother were guests on our show several times in the early years of Deadliest Catch, and were always great to talk with.
