This story doesn’t exactly make the most sense to me, but at least they have identified this little girl’s mother. This two year old was left at a fire station in Sacramento on Sunday, June 30th after a man was approached at a South Sac Walmart by a woman. The woman then left the child in his car, where he then took her to the nearest fire station for help. The community made this picture go viral, and detectives have now made contact with the toddler’s mother.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement saying, the Department “would like to thank the public and media for their efforts in identifying Jane DOE and reuniting her with her mother.”

The Sacramento Police Department is taking over the investigation.

Update: The child is still in custody with CPS, and has NOT been reunited with the mother.
