Devin Dawson Co-Wrote God’s Country. Now Hear (And See) Him Sing It
The Orangevale native’s take on the song is an interesting contrast to Blake’s version

Devin Dawson co-wrote Blake Shelton’s smash, God’s Country, with Hardy and Jordan Schmidt. But, like a lot of songwriters, Devin is a singer, too: his “Dark Horse” was one of the best selling and most critically acclaimed debut albums last year.
So, it’s only natural that Devin would be inclined to release his own version of the song. And he has.
Don’t worry; it’s an informal, acoustic take on the country anthem and not an official release to radio so it’s not going to compete in any way with how Blake’s rendition is doing (#1 again this week, btw). But Devin’s a great singer in his own right and personally, I think it’s always interesting to hear a songwriter’s interpretation of something they wrote that was a hit for someone else.
