“Fishing In The City Program” Introduces Kids To Fishing For Free

There are five events scheduled for the Sacramento area over the next couple of months

The International Sportsman’s Expo is over but, your kids can still learn to fish for free, thanks to a great program from the California Dept of Fish and Game called Fishing In the City.

Basically, DFW personnel and volunteers meet up at a pond at an urban water source, like a pond inside a park. The pond gets stocked with trout, and then youngsters between 5 and 15 can come out and learn to fish for free. All gear-rods, bait, tackle, everything-is provided. Just show up and fish. Plus, unlike the trout pond we had at the Sportstman’s Expo, you get to keep what you catch (and there are people there who will even show you how to clean your fish and get it home).
