The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a new report on Jan. 19 revealing more information about the Route 91 shooting. Marilou Danley, the gunman’s girlfriend, will not be charged in the case.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, investigators “do not anticipate charges being brought forward” against Danley. She was out of the country during the time of the shooting. She also said that she didn’t know what Stephen Paddock, the gunman, was planning.
Prior to the shooting, Paddock booked her a flight out to the Philippines to see her family. He then wired her $100,000 that he told her to use to buy a house for herself and her family.
Danley said:
“I was grateful, but honestly, I was worried that … [he was] breaking up with me. It never occurred to me, in any way whatsoever, that he was planning violence against anyone.”
After the Las Vegas shooting, Danley returned to the U.S. and released a public statement in October.
