I’m not gonna lie, I kind of saw this coming.

Today Governor Gavin Newsom loosened the restrictions for counties to be able to move forward into Phase 2, which includes opening restaurants and more stores.

The new criteria for counties to be able to move ahead in stage two of the state’s reopening plan:

  • Hospitalization rates don’t increase more than 5% over seven days
  • Less than 25 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the last 14 days

The new criteria eliminates requirements that a county have zero deaths and no more than one case per 10,000 residents over 14 days.

53 out of the 58 counties in California now meets this requirement, including Yolo and Sacramento County.

the process should begin to allow places like restaurants in Sacramento County to open up more starting next week, the week of May 25.

During this same press conference, he mentioned that sports, salons, and places of worship could possibly open in the next couple of weeks.
