Only five other artists have won this award

Jason Aldean fans: the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 7th are going to be must-see TV.

That’s because Jason has been named the recipient of the “2010s” ACM/Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award.

Soon after the announcement Jason tweeted the news, calling it a high point of his career.

While the exact criteria for naming an Artist of the Decade award remains under wraps, it doesn’t hurt that over the span of his career, Jason’s had 16 number one singles, sold more than 18 million albums, and has performed before 10 million concert-goers.

In being named Artist of the Decade, Aldean joins some very exclusive company: George Strait (2000s), Garth Brooks (1990s), Alabama (1980s), Loretta Lynn (1970s) and Marty Robbins (1960s).

Congrats Jason!
