Not too many country artists can claim to be legitimate, actual cowboys. George Strait participated in team roping for years. Cody Johnson was a bull rider on the PBR circuit. Reba was a barrel racer. And of course Chris LeDoux was a bronc rider and maybe the most all-around cowboy of ’em all.

But Dixon native Jon Pardi knows his way around a rodeo arena too. Jon posted on Instagram this week that he “snuck back into California and had a chance to do some roping, much needed.”

Not only that, Jon noted he got to ride “a rodeo legend, the great Zorro.” Which he calls “an amazing horse“.

If you want to know what makes a horse a team roping legend, read a great article about Zorro here

And if you want to see some of Jon’s team roping skills, he gave us permission to embed this from his Instagram story. Just scroll through the post and check out the two videos he included (there are some great photos, too).

George, Cody, Reba and Chris would all be proud.
