Luke Combs Scores 8th #1 Single

Most consecutive #1 singles from the start of a career and it isn’t even close. AND he’s still going!

Luke Combs has yet to experience a song of his doing anything other than go to #1. Starting with Hurricane in 2016, every single…single….Luke has released has gone to the top of the country airplay charts, including his latest, “It Does To Me”, which he sings with Eric Church.

So, is that some kind of record? Reaching the top spot with your first 8 songs? Well, let’s take a look.

It took George Strait 7 tries before reaching #1 in 1982 with Fool Hearted Memory. He then went there again and again and again…59 more times, the most of any country artist ever.

Garth didn’t do it; his first single, Much Too Young, cracked the top ten but didn’t quite go all the way.

Carrie Underwood has the longest streak of top ten singles from a career’s start, but Don’t Forget To Remember me peaked at #2. So she’s out.

Alabama hit #1 with Tennessee River in 1980 and then proceeded to reach the top spot with every one of their next 20 songs…but their first three releases didn’t reach the top ten.

Reba didn’t do it. Or Randy Travis. Neither did Dolly or Waylon, Shania, Blake, Tim, Jason or the aforementioned Mr. Church. Or any other country superstar you can think of.

Nope. The closest any artists have been to Luke’s consecutive streak from the start of a career?

It was a tie at 4 between Brooks and Dunn and Florida Georgia Line.

Luke has now doubled-up that record, which may not mean much to you but it does to Luke, and, I would guess, most country fans since we may not see a run like his again in our lifetime.
