Couple Surprises Parents With Christmas Decorations Straight Out Of National Lampoon’s [Video]

Confession time—I have actually never seen any National Lampoon’s movie. But, I know about the scene where Chevy Chase plugs in the Christmas lights, and this couple nailed it.

The Story Behind The Surprise

Turns out they have a family tradition of watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation every year. And since it’s her dad’s favorite scene, Nellie and Bryce wanted to recreate it.

Nellie and Bryce Jurgy secretly flew to Sacramento from Utah earlier this month. They bought thousands of lights and while Nellie’s parents were at work, the couple decorated their Wilton home.

So, as you can see in the video above, dad was definitely surprised. I’m just amazed they could put up that many lights during a work shift.

Eventually some of the lights had to be taken down. They were overwhelming the electrical circuit of the 1970’s ranch and causing the power to go out.

But at the end of the day, the couple and their parents were pleased with the surprise.

“It was way better than we thought, like my dad was clapping and jumping like a little girl,” Nellie told KCRA.
