Did you know that Neil Young is a model train enthusiast?

According to Billboard, the legendary musician has been collecting rare model trains for years and recently sold some for a good cause.

During a recent auction in Los Angeles, Young sold more than 230 pieces in his collection and raised almost $300,000.

Although there was a focus on his train collection, Young was also selling cars and music memorabilia as well. While one of his cars auctioned for $400,000, a rare piece from his train collection also pulled in $10,000!

A portion of the auction’s proceeds are benefiting the Bridge School in California. His ex-wife, Pegi Young, founded the school as a learning center for children with disabilities.

Neil Young’s son Ben has cerebral Palsy, and Neil started his train collection as part of a bonding experience with him.
