A new docuseries is coming to Netflix, focusing on humanity’s greatest friend: dogs.

According to Variety, the series will be called Dogs, and will be split into six episodes that tell individual stories. The docuseries is being brought to Netflix by Glen Zipper and Amy Berg, and is set to premiere next month.

The show is described as showcasing the close bonds that humans share with their canine friends. Over the course of the six stories, dogs and their owners will be featured from many different countries, including Syria, Japan, and the United States.

When describing his series, Zipper said: “Dogs don’t just make us feel loved, dogs make us feel safe.” “In the world we live in today, no matter how divided we are, we should take care to realize how much dogs mean to all of us, and how our bond with them can help bring us together,” he concluded.

These different stories are certain to draw many different emotions from viewers. The first episode will reportedly focus on an 11-year-old girl who suffers from terrible seizures, and how her certified therapy dog, Rory, is always at her side to help. Other episodes will feature dog groomers and their dogs, people who rescue dogs from shelters, and a war-refugee and his journey to save his dog.

Berg, who directed two of the episodes, praised the series and its message. “In times of division, volatility and confusion Dogs is an emotional palate cleanse. Watching the show offers a salve for the spirit and reminds us of the redemptive power of love.”
