At a recent show in Las Vegas, the punk band NOFX said some pretty shocking things about the Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting. You can see video of the incident below, but it includes the following comments:
“We played a song about Muslims and we didn’t get shot,” and “I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you are a country band.”

Needless to say, many fans and country artists alike were appalled. Maren Morris tweeted her feelings about the incident.
Adios, NOFX. Hope you enjoyed your last disgusting words to the people as you slide into oblivion. #VegasStrong https://t.co/3ACJvk6YfG

Immediately following the backlash, NOFX released a short statement.
Because of the comments and pressure from fans, the band lost at least one sponsorship and a headlining show. They have since released a lengthier statement about their Route 91 Harvest Festival comments.
So what do you think? We all make mistakes, although this one is pretty big. But is it unforgivable? Do you think it was meant with true malice or just as part of the “punk” persona of the show?
