North Valley Animal Disaster Group is currently housing 1,896 pets in three emergency shelters. While some of the pets are at the shelters because owners can’t keep them right now, many have yet to be claimed. The majority of the rescues are at the Chico Municipal Airport, which is serving as a makeshift rescue area for the group.

NVADG has also created an online photo database of the pets the currently have. They are continuing to update the database daily. If you recognize a pet, you can go to their Chico location with your ID for more information. Do NOT email for more information. And be aware that their hotline is not at the same place as the animals. Also, they are overwhelmed with work right now and simply can’t answer a lot questions via phone.

You can check out the online catalog here, and it is heartbreaking. The North Valley Animal Disaster Group is also seeking donations: DONATE. This is going to be a long, long road for human and animal survivors. Anything you can donate will be extremely helpful.

After losing everything, I can’t imagine how good it would feel to be reunited with your pet.
