Looks like Downtown Sac is getting another upgrade! Maybe. The City Council voted 7-0 last night to help a local investment group build streets and other infrastructure around a privately financed $252 million soccer stadium in the railyard, Sac Bee reports. Why? To sweeten the deal. Major League Soccer is still considering adding the Sacramento franchise. In fact, the MLS board of governors is meeting next week in LA about it. So not only would we be getting a new stadium near Golden1 with the city’s help, Republic could become legit. And I have a feeling it’ll happen. Unfortunately, the stadium wouldn’t be built until we get the thumbs up from MLS.
