Thanks to a new federally-funded program, children can eat for free this summer. The Summer Food Service Program will be serving breakfast and lunch throughout the summer break. Also, you don’t have to sign up, and you don’t have to pay. So, just show up at one of the participating schools and if you’re 18 or younger, you eat for free.

“It really is no strings attached,” one parent who has used the service told KCRA.

The aim of the program is to make sure that kids have access to healthy meals throughout the year. However, it’s not need based—anyone in the age range can take advantage of free meals this summer. “Statistics out there say 13 million students don’t have access to nutritious breakfast and lunches,” Principal Marc Welty said.
