The Sacramento Zoo Is Looking To Move To A New Location

It seems like 91 years is one spot is enough, at least for the Sacramento Zoo. The current Land Park location doesn’t allow for much of an expansion. And according to CBS 13, the only way to add more animals is to have a bigger location.

“You shouldn’t have to drive to Fresno or Oakland to see a lion or a tiger,” said Zoo Director Jason Jacobs. “We can do both here in Sacramento. If we’re going to do the best that we can to save species, we need a larger zoo.”

So just how much space does the Sacramento Zoo want? The Land Park location is currently 14 acres. Ideally, they’d need 75 to 80 acres. Which makes sense because that gives animals enough space to roam in front of and out of view of visitors. I just hope they don’t try to overcrowd it with a lot more animals.

No word yet on a potential location.
