Love her or hate her, agree or disagree with her politically, this is awesome. In the 24 hours after Taylor Swift posted an endorsement for two politicians in Tennessee, 65,000 new voters registered according to ABC 10.
The majority of them were not in Tennessee, so they can’t actually vote for the candidates Taylor mentioned. The awesome part here, is that thousands of people decided to register. Whether or not they make it to the polls remains to be seen. But, they now have the ability to vote in the upcoming election.
You don’t have to agree with a celebrity politically, but you should acknowledge that getting more people to participate in any election is a good thing.
Vote.org had their second biggest day of the year with over 155,000 unique visitors second only to National Voter Registration Day. While the majority of new voter registrants were outside of her home state, Taylor Swift did have a big impact in Tennessee. Nearly half of the state’s new registrants this month came in the last 36 hours.
