Yesterday, Aug. 14, marked the one year anniversary since Taylor Swift won her sexual assault trial against radio DJ David Mueller.
Last night, Swift stopped her performance in Tampa, Florida to address the case, reports HelloGiggles. She spoke on the importance of believing those who come forward with their stories of sexual assault.
“This is the day the jury sided in my favor and said that they believed me. I just wanted to say I’m sorry to anyone who ever wasn’t believed because I don’t know what turn my life would have taken if somebody didn’t believe me when I said something had happened to me. I’m so grateful for you guys for being there for me for what was really a horrible part of my life.”
For those unaware, a year ago, Swift accused Mueller of groping her during a meet-and-greet. Mueller, who lost his job from the incident, then sued Swift for pressuring his employer to fire him. Swift took Mueller to court, and requested a symbolic $1 in damages. She won.
