Ever heard a song lyric and thought, “I could do that”?

Well, here’s your chance to prove it.

Actually, multiple chances.

American Songwriter, a publication devoted to songwriting in all genres, holds regular lyric competitions throughout the year. At the end of the year, one writer is selected to sit down with an established songwriter. Like who? Well, last year’s winner got to write with Jimmy Buffett, and even performed onstage with Jimmy.

This year’s winner will get to fly to Nashville in early 2021 and write with Dallas Davidson, a country songwriter with 25 #1 songs to his credit including “Boys Round Here”, “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” and “That’s My Kind of Night”. In addition, the winner will also receive a professional demo session and, who knows? Maybe the boost you need to kick your songwriting career dreams into another gear.

The contests, like the publication, are bi-monthly, and right now the deadline to submit for the March/April edition is January 15th, and just for winning that, you’d get a Paul Reed Smith A60e Guitar (valued at $1099.oo) and a Sennheiser E935 microphone.
