For the past 2 years Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have opened with the same song on their Soul2Soul Tour, “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me).”

The song was originally done by Aretha Franklin and George Michael.  That song put Aretha Franklin back on top of the pop charts for the first time in 20 years.  It also won the 1987 Grammy for Best R&B Performance.

So why did Tim and Faith choose it as their opener?  Tasteofcountry.com says it’s a salute to their love as a couple and destiny to be together.  And they absolutely nail it.

The Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin, passed away today at the age of 76.  She had one of those powerful voices that you instantly recognize and love.  In her honor here is Tim and Faith’s salute to Aretha.
