Trisha Yearwood is making her return to country music with the upcoming release of her new country album.

According to Taste of Country, Yearwood’s last country music release was over ten years ago. In 2007, she released Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love. Since then, Yearwood has reportedly reconnected with her passion to create country music, and aims to release her album later this year.

Yearwood reportedly expressed concerns over the changes in the country music scene since her last record. She remained undeterred, however, and focused on creating a genuine and sincere country record. Yearwood accomplished this by reportedly pursuing the “old-school” style of meeting with songwriters and publishers to find songs that felt authentic to her.

She explained this process by saying: “Not being a songwriter, I rely on finding songs that feel like mine, and that’s not easy. Country music has changed a lot and I’m not sure if I’m going to hear songs that even reflect what I think.” Yearwood enlisted the help of industry professionals to make sure the record was filled with songs she related to.

“It’s a real mix of the ballads that you would expect to hear from me,” she explained. “There’s some really cool uptempo things that I love. There are those themes of love and relationships that I always love to do, but then there’s also a girl power song in there that I really like.” She went on to add: “I hope when people hear it, they will hear the joy that I had in making it.”

The expected release date for this new country album is later this fall.
