Will Reba’s “The Hammer” Become A Series? Melissa Peterman Says …Maybe

Recently we had the chance to catch up with literally our only friend in Hollywood, Melissa Peterman. We’ve known Melissa since her days as Reba’s co-star on their hit TV show of the early 2000s. In fact, she pulled strings that allowed us to be extras (the episode is Switch and you can see it here. By the way, we’re excellent).
Well, Melissa is still working with her friend “Red”, most recently on a Lifetime movie called “The Hammer”, in which Reba plays a circuit court judge in Nevada. This of course is on the heels of Reba’s turn on the show Big Sky on ABC- which just wrapped up to big audiences and critical praise. So our first question for Melissa was – you know Reba well. She’s already had all the success in the world. What keeps her going? What drives her…is it luck? Talent? What?
“Luck can get you in the right room sometimes” she answered. “But you’ve got to be driven….I think when she started acting again, she just fell in love with it….and, I don’t know how she does it but she just loving exploring that side of her”.
In The Hammer, Peterman plays Reba’s sister and together they seem to have a complicated past that the movie starts to explore. That led us to wondering if this could become more than just a one-off. She said she didn’t know but, she has hopes.
“My fingers are crossed that if it’s not a series then at least it’s a series of movies… I love playing her sister and I could see how that relationship could evolve. I just think it could be really fun.”
