Dolly Parton has been in the industry long enough to know where to draw the line in interviews. She declined to comment on the current state of politics in a recent interview with Nightline.
Dolly was talking about the upcoming reboot of 9 to 5, which deals with female harassment in the workplace. Because the message of the film is so relevant today, all the original cast agreed to the modern rework, reports the Boot. When asked about her own views on politics today, however, Dolly responded:
“Of course I have my own opinions about everybody and everything, but I learned a long time ago, you keep your damn mouth shut if you want to stay in show business. I’m not in politics. I’m an entertainer.”
