Prom is one of the highlights of being a high school student. I went to the dance as a junior and senior and it was a blast. But some students at Bear Creek High School in Stockton might not get that experience.

While there are 1,000 students who could potentially attend the event with guests, apparently only half usually do. So the school booked a venue that could only hold 500. And because of that, some students have been put on a wait list.

“It’s unfair. Never in my life have I heard of prom running out of tickets,” said senior Courtney Stevens.

CBS 13 says that Bear Creek was able to get the venue to allow 50 extra guests. Courtney Stevens and the rest of the wait list will be able to get in. However, anyone else who wants to go probably won’t be able to.

“Probably one of the hardest experiences I had today as a principal was having students coming up to me crying,” said principal Hillary Harrell.
