Sacramento plans to build three pop-up structures to help house the homeless this summer. Sac Bee says that these tent-like structures will be erected in three different neighborhoods. However, the specific neighborhoods have yet to be revealed.

The pop-up homeless shelters are poised to house around 600 people. Additionally, they will likely be built on vacant land or lots in the area.
Sometime in September is the goal for the first of three “sprung structures,” according to the Bee. The current homeless shelter in North Sacramento will also continue to stay open through August.
Sacramento’s pop-up homeless shelter idea was influenced by San Diego. The city instituted something similar last year and has since seen a six percent decrease in homelessness.
